The ISO Online Academy is an intensive, self-driven program designed to equip fire officers with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively serve as an Incident Safety Officer. Through a combination of situational exercises, scenario-based practice, and in-depth discussions, this academy is ideal for both seasoned and aspiring fire officers preparing to take on the ISO role.

Certification Steps

Sign up on the FDSOA website.

Step Two

Complete the requirements for the online class

Step Three

Complete the exam with a passing score of 70% or greater.

Step Four

Download, fill out, and send in your affidavit after the skill sheet completion.

This academy will challenge you to think critically, act decisively, and prioritize safety in every situation. By the end of the program, you will be well-prepared to fulfill the critical role of an Incident Safety Officer, safeguarding your team and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Examination Information

CANDIDATES RESPONSIBILITIES TO GET STARTED:

  • Complete registration and payment for the ISO Online course.
  • Upon registration applicants must provide complete Proctor information: Name, Title, Email address and Phone number.
  • Exam must be written within 90 days of course completion.
  • Coordinate with FDSOA for testing package to be sent to Proctor two weeks prior to students testing.

 

iNCLUSIONS

  • Digital version of the Fire Department Incident Safety Officer (Third Edition) book by David W. Dodson available during the 30 day course period.
  • Testing materials will be mailed to Proctor’s provided address.  
  • Exam must be written within 90 days of course completion.
  • Passing grade of 70% required.
  • Submission to Pro Board for certification upon receipt of completed and signed Affidavit (confirmation of randomly selected JPR’s).

All FDSOA granted ISO and HSO certifications are registered and maintained by the Pro Board.
