Overview
All emergency response personnel who respond to incidents on the roadway are eligible to earn this certification to demonstrate that they have obtained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to properly discharge duties like positioning blocking vehicles, setting up a traffic incident management area, deploying and removing temporary traffic control devices, and conducting manual traffic control.
Applicants for the TIM national certification must show evidence of successful completion of the National TIM & Responder Safety training program. A copy of your certificate of completion must accompany your application. The certificate should be from either a Federal or State recognized training program or the online Responder Safety Learning Network
Certification Steps
Step One
Visit ResponderSafety.com and obtain your TIM Training Certificate.
Step Two
Download, fill out, and send in the completed exam application.
Step Three
Complete the exam with a passing score of 70% or greater.
Step Four
Download, fill out, and send in your affidavit after the skill sheet completion.

Certificates will not be issued until receipt of the signed affidavit within one year of the exam date.
