Improving Firefighter Safety with Thermal Imaging
This program explores how thermal imaging can enhance firefighter safety across all levels of emergency response while identifying and preventing the factors that have contributed to related injuries and line-of-duty deaths.
Class Information
Thermal imaging has been used in the Fire Service for almost 30 years. Without any doubt, it has contributed to many civilian and firefighter lives being saved. Unfortunately, the cold hard facts have also shown that thermal imaging has been a contributing factor in numerous firefighter injuries and LODDs. This presentation will review both how thermal imaging can be used to improve firefighter safety and how the contributing factors leading to injuries and LODDs can be avoided. This will include how thermal imaging can be successfully used at the task, tactical, and strategic levels. It will also specifically focus on how Safety Officers can use it effectively in all types of emergency response incidents.
